Date Pudding
Ingredients
Pudding
- 1 c. chopped dates
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. hot water
- 1 egg
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Topping
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 c. chopped dates
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
- 1 Tbsp. butter
Directions
- Mix 1 cup chopped dates with soda and hot water; let stand.
- In a separate bowl, combine egg, sugar, butter, flour, baking powder, and walnuts.
- Stir this mixture into the first mixture.
- Pour into a greased 8- or 9-inch square pan.
- Bake 35 minutes in a 350°F oven.
- While the cake bakes, make the topping by cooking all topping ingredients together until thick.
- When the cake is removed from the oven, pour the hot topping over the warm cake.
- Serve with whipped cream.
